Technical Data: Seamless Joint Method for Embedded Expansion Devices for Bridges

Years of trial and error! Effective in bridge longevity measures and roadside/traffic environment measures!

This document introduces the seamless joint method for buried expansion devices used in bridges. This method aims to achieve continuous pavement by using a highly elastic pavement material called "Falcon SJ," which has properties similar to the surrounding pavement, along with a simple mechanism called the "joint frame" that is buried, absorbing deformations at the expansion joints. It includes sections such as "Transition of Buried Joints," "Products and Construction of the Seamless Joint Method," and "Waterproofing of Seamless Joints." [Contents (excerpt)] ■ Introduction ■ Transition of Buried Joints ■ Products and Construction of the Seamless Joint Method ■ Durability of the Seamless Joint Method ■ Waterproofing of Seamless Joints *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Buried-type expansion joint for bridges "Seamless Joint SJ-M/SJ-P"

Buried type expansion device for bridges, suitable for steel bridges, PC bridges, and RC bridges, with a bed box extraction type structure.

The "Seamless Joint SJ-M/SJ-P" is a buried expansion device for bridges that uses the highly durable and water-resistant elastic pavement material "Falcon SJ." The "SJ-M type" has "Falcon SJ" exposed on the pavement surface, providing the same properties as the surrounding asphalt, ensuring a smooth driving experience without any step differences over a long period. The "SJ-P type" is completely buried under the asphalt pavement, allowing for a seamless driving experience in short-span, small-scale bridges. 【SJ-M Type Specifications】 ■ Standard dimensions: Sidewalk part 400mm × 80mm, Roadway part 400mm × 120mm ■ Applicable joints: Transverse joints / Longitudinal joints ■ Applicable bridges: Steel bridges / PC bridges / RC bridges ■ Structure: Slab box type ■ Construction method: Retrofit method *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Buried-type expansion joint "PA Joint"

No secondary water stop needed - seismic performance achieved! Buried expansion device boasting high durability.

The "PA Joint" is a buried expansion device that does not require secondary water stopping, featuring seismic resistance due to its ability to expand and contract in all directions by 360 degrees. It does not experience the fluidity and cracking typical of buried joints, and it is robust with high durability (over 15 years). It performs better against temperature fluctuations and can accommodate a maximum expansion of up to 100mm. This significantly improves the durability issues associated with conventional buried joints, suppresses the occurrence of subsidence and cracking due to fluidity, and ensures the safety of passing vehicles. 【Features】 ■ High durability ■ Zero displacement after over 63,000 rotations in wheel tracking tests ■ Average wear of 0.05mm in labeling test results (Japan Road Construction Association) ■ Can be constructed with the same material for the ground cover, allowing for seamless water stopping ■ Exhibits the same expansion and contraction performance in all 360 degrees *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Column] What is a buried expansion device?

Explaining the four benefits, construction methods, and types! Also introducing the manufacturers that produce them.

Buried expansion devices, unlike other joints, are not visible from the road. Since they are embedded in the pavement, they are integrated with the road, resulting in minimal noise and vibration. Additionally, maintenance is relatively easy, and over the long term, costs can be significantly reduced. As a result, they are increasingly being installed in small to medium-sized bridges. This article explains the features and benefits of buried expansion devices. We will also introduce the manufacturers producing them, so you can grasp all the details. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Buried type expansion joint "PA Joint"

No secondary water stop needed; seismic performance has also been achieved! An embedded expansion device boasting high durability.

The "PA Joint" is a buried type expansion device that does not experience flow or cracking specific to joints, and is durable with high durability. It exhibits better performance against temperature fluctuations and can accommodate a maximum expansion of up to 100mm. Its expansion capability in all 360 degrees also provides seismic resistance, eliminating the need for secondary water stopping. Additionally, it significantly improves the durability issues associated with conventional buried joints, suppressing the occurrence of subsidence and cracking due to flow, ensuring the safety of passing vehicles. 【Features】 ■ Durability: Expansion performance is significantly superior compared to conventional special composite devices. ■ Quietness: The main body can be smoothly finished at room temperature for a flat installation. ■ Water stopping ability: Excellent water stopping capability as the ground cover can be made from the same material. ■ Seismic resistance: Maintains a maximum expansion of 100mm in all 360 degrees. ■ Versatility: Can be installed in locations where buried types were previously not selectable. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
